| The response to this site has been
great and I thank all the people who have written. I have
just finished doing some additional work and updating on the site.
What do most people want when they search the
internet for travel? Just guessing that most of us are
looking for the best travel discounts, deals, specials and
bargains for the worlds best travel products and quick.
Was I close? After spending years searching travel sites
for airfares, cruises, hotels, car rentals and many other travel
products I decided that I might save a few souls some time by
listing the best travel site listings that I have found. I must
disclose that I love to travel it may show within this site.
The best travel sites I am going to list are my choices and not
picked by a famous travel editor for a big New York travel
section of a newspaper. These sites have been used,
researched or visited by me and others for information, details
or for a sale. The sites I pick will be quick to download
and not cluttered with way to much information. That is
what we want to look up, right? The information....that
allows us to find what we want, when we want it for travel
products worldwide.
Some of the travel categories may seem odd, but, there are
millions of travel related sites out there and they all deserve
some kind of recognition. The sites are listed by category
title and then you will find subcategories. This will
allow for a directory type of site with easy navigation and use.
I am also going to include all the airline listings (it may
change before this site is finished though) and the cruise lines
as well as the hotel & lodging companies all with phone numbers
and website links, if space allows...some categories will be for
Domestic, meaning the USA and the international will be outside
of the USA.
There is some consolidation going on in the travel industry
as I write this. Delta has just completed their merger
with Northwest Airlines. Apollo has purchase Regent Cruise
Lines and also owns Oceania and some of Norwegian Cruise Lines.
Southwest is expanding and heading into the New York airport
caos.
The travel industry is undergoing pressure also from the
worldwide credit crisis or situation and you can expect more
consolidations and mergers. Some companies may not make it
for lack of liquidity and capital while others will grow
stronger. Welcome to the deleveraging of the world.
Several other carriers did not make it through the high energy
prices of this last year and several had to file the big B or
just closed.
Well, we now have a new president and people seem to be more
optimistic than before. The travel industry is still
hurting and with that comes great discounts and specials.
I have booked several trips, land and cruises, and saved a lot
of money of the previous pricing structures. The travel
industry and those that work within the industry are facing
challenges that have not been seen before. The need for a
national energy plan should be one of the top agendas for the
next president and congress.
Oh, by the way, if you like my banner photo, I took it while I
was on Seabourn in December 2007, cruising around Asia. The
photo was taken off Ko Koon island. If you have any photos
that you would like for me to consider putting on this site,
email them to me. Please make sure you edit them to a
reasonable size....
